Department and Post elections are over and the new slate of officers are taking over now. Congratulations to all the incoming officers and thank you for stepping up and helping out. As many are aware their has been several changes in how we are operating the canteen and I was hoping things would be back to normal by now. It doesn’t look like Covid19 is going to leave anytime soon, so we will continue to keep doing what is necessary to satisfy the state and local health departments. I ask all members again to understand this is what we must do, not what we want to do and grumbling about it to the canteen manager, bartenders, or officers is not the way to get things done. Your voice will be heard at meetings not at the canteen, so please let’s all try to be more patient and understanding with each other. This year’s Post picnic has been cancelled because of the Pandemic but we will be trying to have a cookout/ family day when some of the restrictions are lifted. Until then have as great a summer as you can and God Bless America.

May 19, 2020

The canteen will open at regular business hours on Thursday May 21, 2020. We will be observing COVID-19 Protocols as established by the State of Ohio. We must do this in order to be OPEN and keep our Liquor Licence. Several changes have been made to the canteen to allow this to happen but the most important one is to maintain the social distancing requirement of six feet between persons. This is not going to be easy but it must be done. The Governor is putting together a task force to make sure this will happen so no doubt we will be inspected at different times. Please bear with us as we deal with this unusual situation and remember this isn’t what we want to do this is what we must do, so don’t come to the canteen unless you are willing to follow the new guidelines. Hopefully this will be over soon and things can get back to normal, in the meantime stay safe and we will see you at the Canteen.

This friday the kitchen will be open from 4:30 til 6:30 PM for dinner. The menu will be Shredded Beef Burritos with Mexican Sweet Corn, Refried Beans and Coconut Lime Cake. The cost is $8.00. How we are going to accomplish this is go to the Axillary facebook page and place your order then on Friday when you arrive at the Post call the Post number 419-589-6728 and someone will bring your meal out to your vehicle.

Below is a list of officers for year 2020 thru 2021. If everyone is in agreement with this list then the Adjutant will cast one unanimous vote and this will be sent to Department.

Commander- Mike Ison

Senior Vice Commander- Ben Horn

Junior Vice Commander- Russell Sparks

Quartermaster- Don Heidecker

Judge Advocate- Jim Crabtree

Surgeon- Terry Ellis

Chaplin- Terry Carr

3 Year Trustee- Jim Baire.

We are going to have a meeting for April and I am trying to work out a schedule to possibly have the meeting using facetime or a similar APP. I will check with the District Commander to get some guidance.

As you all know we are closed for the time being and as it stands now our finances are such that we can ride this out for quite sometime. We have made every effort to reduce our costs. We have Tammy coming in every day to check on things and get the mail and I monitor the post cameras several times a day.

One last thing I would like to add is there are several members that have offered to help in any way they can and some are making meals and delivering them to our members, others are making phone calls to check on members well being and the list goes on. I have always said we have the most generous post in Ohio for our size and these actions buy our members prove my point. Our Post thanks each and every one of you for all you do for us and it doesn’t go unnoticed. This Saturday at Sandyhill Kristi Spangler and others will be giving away food starting at 9:00 AM until they run out so if you know of anyone who needs provisions please make them aware of this.

Stay safe and We will get through this crisis

As most of us are aware the Canteen has been closed by order of the Department Commander in compliance with the directive of Governor DeWine. Because of this all Canteen activities are on hold right now and will remain that way until we have new orders from Commander Dan Faulkner. The Post officers will be meeting Thursday evening to discuss how best to handle this unusual situation. Please be patient with this as it is something none of us has had to deal with before.

If any member of our post have any questions or concerns please email me at any time and I will answer your concerns if I can. My E-mail Link is under the Officers Menu just click on my name and it will pop-up.

Please take care during this time and know we are going to make it through this crisis.

MARCH 1, 2019

Notice to all Regular Members Nominations for Post Officers will be held at our next scheduled regular meeting on March 13, 2019 for the year 2019 – 2020. Please plan on attending this meeting because it is the most important one of the year, this meeting sets the direction of our Post for the next year and your input is greatly needed.

Mike Ison Commander

I hope everyone had a great holiday season and got to relax with family and friends. 2018 was a good year for our post, we got several projects done but I failed to complete all the projects we wanted to do. I need to get hopping on what there is remaining and we will hopefully move forward from here. Together we will keep making our post better and better.

Please stop by the canteen and check the board for current happenings and to say HI to your fellow members. The only way we can make this post work is to get involved and share your ideas or issues at the meetings.

In Comradeship,

Mike Ison
