CALENDAR OF EVENTS FOR THIS PERIOD

COMMANDER NEWS:  Here it is already my fourth newsletter for the year, this one is for March and April 2017. I really don’t have a lot to say since last month’s newsletter, other than I have been working hard on getting all the reports, and everything wrapped up for the year. The post membership reached 100% in January, but we still have a lot to do to get ALL STATE POST. March 5th will be our District 10 meeting along with Memorial Service at 9:30 am at Ashland Post 1067. I would love to see more members from 3494 there, regular and auxiliary, you all are invited to attend. Our next regular meeting will be held on March 8, 2017 at 8:00 p.m., would love to see more come out and get involved in our regular business as well. DON’T FORGET nominations in March and nominations and ELECTION in April. Until next time, God Bless our troops deployed everywhere. Ooh-Rah Semper-Fi Get-r-done.
Chuck Sloan, Commander.

QUARTERMASTER NEWS: If you know anyone that may be eligible to join the VFW, check with them and have them stop in, they may be interested in joining.  Keep in mind we pay the first year dues for regular new eligible members and also pay the dues of anyone that is on active duty.  We are currently at 100% for 2017 dues paid.

I want to personally thank Mickey McCallister for all of her hard work and dedication in the kitchen on fry nights, and to all of the membership who keeps our Auxiliary going strong. As of May 1, 2017, the KITCHEN will CLOSE for the summer, but you never know when we may have something special, so please come in and check the board. God Bless our Troops, Veterans, and our members. Tim Stanley, President

Please note the Auxiliary meeting is now the FIRST Wednesday of the month and the time is now 6:00pm.

AUXILIARY TREASURER NEWS: Hello everyone, hope all is well with you and your families. Our Auxiliary still needs APPROXIMATELY 14 MEMBERS TO PAY THEIR DUES. As your treasurer, I have sent out dues notices, letters and have made phone calls for those we have numbers. REMEMBER if you are having problems with paying your dues, please contact me, we may be able to help. As treasurer, I do NOT want to see any of you lose your years, you have to have these in to me by MAY 1st, 2017 to keep your continued years. The decision is yours, but just know we need you to help fight in Washington for our Veterans and Active Militaries rights. Hope everyone has a GREAT EASTER. God Bless our troops and all of you, Marge Sloan, Treasurer 419-564-0044

YOUTH NEWS: On Saturday, July 9th, our kids have been invited to sing at the opening of the Youth Program presentation at this year's Council of Administration. We are planning to sing our Lee Greenwood song and if your kid would like to join us for this special honor, please contact me ASAP. We have a couple of swimming dates coming up this summer, please check the calendar for dates and times. I look forward to a new year with the youth of our Post and hope to see everyone there this year…..Shannon.

CANTEEN NEWS: Spring is coming, so far winter has not been too bad. All I can tell everyone is that things are picking up around the post. St Patrick’s day we will be having corn beef and cabbage, and offering drink specials. Hope everyone is well and remember a prayer for our troops Kim Waggoner- Canteen Manager

EDITORS NOTE:  Please remember to notify the Post, Quartermaster, or Treasurer’s of any address changes.  This is very important to us and to National, so that you continue to receive all the information that is available to you.  You can also notify us by email listed at the top.  The Tattler is available for viewing on the website and we would really like to have more people use this. If you would like taken off the mailing list and read it online, please let us know.  We are having several issues with the Post Office delivery in a timely matter and getting many returns as well.  If you have information to put in the Tattler, or you are interested in doing the Tattler, please let the Commander know.

For those who have a loved one that is ill, we are praying for them.  For those who have lost a loved one, our sympathy and our condolences go out to you.  V.F.W. Post 3494, Ladies Auxiliary, and Men’s Auxiliary
